Carly + Noah's Rustic Colorful Boho Wedding in Bronson, MI

Nothing is better than when we have a local wedding near Coldwater. Carly and Noah reached out to us about their day at Parham Road Barn in Bronson, MI and we were ecstatic to document their day for them. Carly initially described their day as rustic, boho, and elegant and I think they really nailed everything. Their color palette was absolute perfection, as well as pretty much EVERYTHING about the entire day and evening. They even got lucky and had a great sunset and we were able to sneak out for some extra portraits in the corn field. Carly and Noah were relaxed and really fun to work with and I think having a relaxed approach to your day really lends to the most beautiful photos.

Angela + Logan's Snowy Spring Elopement

When Logan + Angela reached out to me about shooting their intimate forest elopement I knew I was going to be making some really beautiful work. However, I think we all had thoughts of a mild spring day. In true Michigan fashion, there was snow, and it was truly the most magical photogenic snow we could have asked for. They chose to hold their ceremony surrounded by their closest family and friends amongst the towering pines at Hoffmaster State Park in Muskegon. They read their snow drenched vows in the stillness of the forest and quiet falling flakes. Special thank you to The Lost Forty; Kayla created a truly stunning bouquet and boutonnière that fit their dark and moody aesthetic perfectly. Do you ever have a moment that feels like haiku? This was truly one of those, and I hope for a moment you can feel what we felt on this day.

Andrea + Eddie's Dreamy Winter Wedding in Holland, MI

Do couples get easier to work with or dreamier than Andrea + Eddie? Probably not. Their intimate day was winter perfection. Andrea started her day getting ready at the City Flats Hotel Holland, while the guys hung out at their venue, Baker Lofts. It’s always nice when we can grab any wedding party photos prior to the ceremony and Corey was able to grab some fun shots with Eddie and his groomsmen before we headed downtown. After a ton of research with Andrea we decided on the mural at 205 Coffee in Downton Holland to meet Eddie prior to the ceremony. It was SO cold but they were totally in the moment, braved the cold and had the sweetest first look. We also hit a few other spots downtown and near their venue for some portraits. Everyone was super on board with photos despite it being bitter cold and really windy. Once we were just about frozen we wrapped up and headed back to Baker lofts for the most heartfelt ceremony (they started with The Pixies “Where is My Mind” instrumental so you KNOW it was gonna be good!!!) and had the most fun dance party reception and quickest coldest sparkler exit!!!! Scroll down to see all the amazingness we captured!

Aimee and Nathan's Backyard Boho Wedding in Montgomery, Michigan

Aimee and Nathan's day was another wedding in 2016 where we felt right at home. We've known Aimee since high school and were ecstatic to photograph their day. Aimee and Nathan opted for an intimate backyard wedding with their family and friends held at Aimee's parents property in Montgomery, Michigan. They had the most heartfelt first look and of course that made for some super sweet images. Aimee and her family did all the decor themselves, which oh my gosh LOOK AT IT! SO STUNNING!!!! They are some of the loveliest boho details we have ever shot!!! Scroll slow they are so good! Their celebration was filled with so much happiness and love and we were so honored to be a part of it!

Sam + Asher's Rustic Country Engagement in Coldwater, Michigan

Sam and Asher had me out to their incredibly lovely property a couple years ago to photograph their engagements in Coldwater. I was so excited because it combined so many of my favorite elements in one place! Dilapidated rusty barn perfection, forest, field, and a small shallow lake, I was literally in heaven. Not only was their property so great but Sam and Asher were pretty amazing to work with as well! Their natural connection and lovey-ness made for some really great shots. Prepare yourselves, because this is quite a large post BUT I don't think doing a small one would be feasible, there were just too many photos I LOVED from this session!

Sarah and Dean's Eclectic and Artistic Wedding in Marshall, MI

Sarah and Dean are another couple who we are lucky to call our friends who were married in 2016! Of course, we were over the moon when they inquired about us shooting their day at The Olde Farmhouse Barn in Marshall, MI. Sarah and Dean took a little bit of a non-traditional spin on their day, foregoing a lot of traditions and instead focused on a short sentimental ceremony, and lots of time being present, enjoying THEIR day with guests. I loved this approach because they weren't shuffling from one thing to the next, and were able to be present and enjoy their whole day, and it gave us a lot of freedom to tell the story of their day without interruption. They incorporated a lot of geometric touches + a little bit of a boho feel with the florals and colors, and their wardrobe had a sophisticated vintage inspiration. Sarah is very talented + artistic and her vision for their day came together beautifully, she even hand crafted their favor geometric magnets! (Still my favorite magnets EVER! SO CUTE) Overall I think this is one of our favorite days we have captured because it was truly a representation of Sarah and Dean's personalities and aesthetic and was truly their own.

Kaitlin + Chris' Adventurous Seven Lakes State Park Engagement

Kaitlin and Chris's engagement session was definitely one of our favorites of 2016. They are such an amazingly adventurous free spirited couple (currently traveling the world) and were up for anything we wanted to do at the session! Seven Lakes State Park in Holly, MI  was such an awesome spot for these! We had the whole park pretty much to ourselves so that was about the best thing we could have asked for! We ran everywhere around the park, danced, and took some amazing shots in the water! My favorite part of these is the connection Kaitlin and Chris have, you can just feel the love vibes!!!!

Enchanted Forest Elopment-My Best Friends Wedding in Grand Ledge, MI

I am working through the backlog of beautiful images I have that deserve to be viewed by the world! This next one is from May 20th 2016 and it was something I had been dreaming about for awhile. My best friend decided to elope in the middle of the woods! Missy and Shawn were looking for a way to have a meaningful, quiet day they could share with each other completely at their own pace. It was one to the most beautiful days we have had the privilege to capture in one of the loveliest spots ever! I think Elopements are absolute hands down GREATEST things ever! Intimate, real, and surrounded by nature <3 It was such a memorable day and we are so happy to have been able to photograph it! I love their fist bump Corey was able to catch (thank you honey ^_~)

Giovanna + Terrell's Whimsical Kalamzoo Boho Wedding

Giovanna and Terrell invited me to shoot their day at Martell's on a beautiful Saturday in May 2016 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Rain sprinkled down right before the ceremony providing the most lovely cloud cover that made everything look extra lush. They had an exceptionally beautiful ceremony and the love from all of their close family and friends was palpable.   I was so honored to be part of such an intimate day! Portrait time was a breeze as you can see below these two are naturals! All of their details were so well thought out and just fit the vibe of their day really well! I hope you enjoy this post because I really love everything about their boho-y spring day!

Alyce + Nick's Ann Arbor Greenhouse Engagement

I knew from the first email I received from Alyce that I NEEDED to shoot her and Nick's wedding. We're all Polish, have a passion for food (pierogis hellloooooo) love the same kinds of music, and they just seemed like real genuinely sweet souls! They met while working at U of M union, he asked her to a concert, became roommates and the rest is history! We met up at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens + Nichols Arboretum in Ann Arbor in March and had THE BEST time. I could go on and on and on and on about how amazingly fun and adorable they are but I think the photos do a better job!

Brittany + Cory Snowy Coldwater MIchigan Engagement Session

Brittany + Cory

So, you know Michigan, whenever you're depending on the weather for something it does the exact opposite. Brittany and Cory had their hearts set on a snowy session and we had hardly any at all the whole winter. We FINALLY were graced with a bit at the end of February and I knew the only way we'd catch it was with a sunrise session. They chose to do it at their own property with their two adorable dogs (even their barn kitties made an appearance!) It's a long post but how could I resist not posting SO MANY amazing photos!?!

Leah + Zach Grand Rapids, Michigan Engagement Session

Leah + Zach

March 19th 2016

Still chipping away at the 2016 stuff, there's quite a bit still......

Sometimes you get really lucky and get to hang and photograph people who TOTALLY get your weird. Leah and Zach were one of those couples. We met by Yesterdog in Grand Rapids on an exceptionally lovely March day. (My absolute FAVORITE time of year to shoot, soft warm light and no overwhelming greens.) We explored the area together, made lots of jokes and took some really great photos!!

Ally + Jeff's Winter Industrial Boho Wedding in Coldwater, MI

Ally + Jeff

12.12.15

Yep, throwing it back to 2015 for a moment! This day was really special for me to photograph. Ally is a really dear friend of mine and has been such an inspiration for my work, she's just an all around amazing person, makeup artist and stylist. When she asked me to be a part of her day I couldn't resist. I knew she and Jeff intended to move to New York the following Spring and wanted to incorporate a bit of that vibe into their day.

Cloudy, warm and perfect, for December in Michigan we were fortunate to have such an incredible setting for their day. They opted for an intimate wedding with family and close friends plus their sweet pug Biscuit. Their ceremony was held at our cute community center gym, it fit the industrial boho theme perfectly. We chose a really beautiful brick wall downtown for portraits that I adore and then they opted for some additional portraits at dusk which could not have been dreamier with all of the holiday lights.

Noelle + Brennan Bloomfield Hills Michigan Winter Wedding

Noelle + Brennan Bloomfield Hills Winter Wedding

2.20.16

Noelle and Brennan's day was absolutely stunning. Classic and elegant styling coupled with their laid back and fun personalities made this wedding extra special. Noelle chose to get ready at her parents home which is always a win (comfort and that light OH MY) and even included her adorable fur babes (which resulted in some of my favorite photos!) Their ceremony was held at Academy of the Sacred Heart. They also had the luck of gettin the mildest weather for a Michigan February so we had the opportunity to do their portraits outside in the beautiful golden sunset light! When we wrapped up at the church we headed to the Heather's Club of Bloomfield Hills for the reception! I could go on all day about their wedding but I'll stop here and let the photos do the rest!

Scout 6 Months-5 Minute Lifestyle Session Coldwater Michigan

Oh my little Scouty man, I've taken about a million photos of him and only posted a small fraction of them. We recently remodeled our bedroom to accommodate his nursery and I have decided to postpone putting his things in there, it works out as a wonderful little studio space for me. These are a few I snapped in there the other day after naptime.  These were taken in about 5 minutes and I just adore how they turned out!

Erica and Sam Southern Michigan Rainy Day Wedding

Okay this is a HUGE post.........There's something so truly wonderful about photographing for couple's you've known forever and are friends with. Erica and Sam's day was moody and magical. Accompanied by their dear friends and family they married near Quincy Michigan on one of the rainiest June days there ever was. Their ceremony was intimate and sweet on Sam's families property. The rain stopped right when Erica decided to walk down the aisle and it was so perfect. The reception was a blast  and help at Tip-Up Island in Quincy, MI and I think the photos do a wonderful job of telling the rest of the story especially the crazy dance party at the end! Thank you Sam and Erica for letting us tell the story of your best day ever!

Chloe + Mike Traverse City Michigan Engagement

Okay so I'm throwing it back to MAY.....yes........May........to Chloe and Mike's engagement session. Chloe and Mike are just like the SWEETEST people ever. They asked Corey and I about coming up to Traverse City and we were all about it (we desperately needed a break before the Scout was born!) We had initially decided on wooded/ and downtown locations and the pier where they got engaged, but on the way to our hotel I spotted the apple orchard in bloom that we used for the first part of the photos and knew it had to be utilized! We also had questionable weather that day but decided to proceed on the pier and beach even through a straight downpour. Instead of quitting even though we were all drenched Chloe and Mike continued and I couldn't love what we created more. Thank you Chloe and Mike again times 1000 for trusting our vision and having us up there we had so much fun!!! Also the best sessions end with margaritas!!!!!!!!
